PRF comes to Mexico in 2027: roasters and producers meet in Chiapas

I was glad to hear that the Producer & Roaster Forum (PRF) is coming to Mexico for the first time. The 12th edition will run on 18 and 19 March 2027 at the Polyforum Chiapas in Tuxtla, and the Sourcing Trip experience will take place from 14 to 17 March.

More than 4,500 professionals are expected, with roasters from over 45 countries, which would make it the largest PRF so far. The organisers estimate more than 15.5 million US dollars in business opportunities, of which at least 1.82 million would stay in Chiapas, along with more than 300 direct and indirect jobs.

The programme includes the sixth Global Roasting Championship, sponsored by Cropster, the eighth Cold Brew Championship, the third World Cupping Championship and the third Suelo de Excelencia competition by Belco, which focuses on soil health. There will also be Producer-Roaster Matchmaking sessions, talks and panels (speaker applications are open), and the final of the Global Coffee Awards 2026, where regional winners compete for the title of best roaster in the world. The 2025 champion was Vytautas Kratulis of Huracán Coffee. The European edition of the GCA will be held in October, and samples must arrive before 21 October.

For context, Mexico is one of the world's eleven largest coffee exporters, and the USDA expects its production to rise to 4.1 million 60 kg bags in the 2026/27 harvest. Personally, I see this as a good sign for small Latin American roasters, who will have a meeting point much closer to home.
