The best electric vans for campervan conversion in 2026

Converting an electric van into a campervan no longer sounds like science fiction. EspacioFurgo published a June selection of models that can be turned into plug-in campers, and the numbers are hard to ignore.

According to the article, real-world range exceeds 300 km on several models, V2L lets you power the fridge and induction hob from the battery, and the CERO label makes low-emission zones easier to enter; converting the van to a camper doesn't change that. They recommend deducting 20 to 25 % from the WLTP range for camper use, and watching payload, since furniture can add 300 to 500 kg.

Top of the ranking is the Volkswagen ID. Buzz (from €64,000, 79 kWh usable, around 450 km WLTP), followed by the Ford E-Transit Custom (€52,000, 74 kWh, about 320 km, payload close to 1,000 kg and a factory pop-top roof), the Mercedes eVito Tourer (€58,000, 90 kWh) and the Maxus eDeliver 7 (€45,000, V2L as standard, the most affordable of the mid-size vans). The twins Peugeot e-Expert, Citroën ë-Jumpy, Opel Vivaro Electric and Toyota Proace Electric are around 330 km, and the Renault Trafic E-Tech, with 52 kWh, is for urban or weekend use.

A useful example: a van rated at 330 km would manage between 240 and 260 km with luggage and two people. Note that the article's V2L data isn't entirely consistent between the spec sheet and the FAQ, so it's worth checking before you decide.
