‘Eavy Metal’s Warhammer Tone Pro Green Recipes: Salamanders Intercessors and the Kriegsdespot

Games Workshop is running a whole article series on the new Warhammer Tone Pro paint range, and the green installment stood out to me because it gives concrete recipes. After the articles on red and yellow, the ‘Eavy Metal team this time shows green miniatures.

For a Salamanders Intercessor, the base is Lustria Green 3, the shadows use tones 1 and 2, and the highlights use 4 and 5. The principle of the range shows clearly here: every colour comes in five steps, so a single pot can cover base, shade and light.

The Kriegsdespot is more involved. The armour starts with Green Morkshroom 3, shadows with 1 and 2, highlights with 4 and 5, and the final edges get Blackstone Void 5. The gems are made with Seraphon Blue 1 to 5, the pink part of the glaive with Eye of Terror 4 and 5, and the horns with Dataslate Grey 1 to 5. The visible part of the sash is painted in Magnus the Red.

According to the article, the paints can be pre-ordered from Saturday, and you can try them out in Warhammer stores and at independent retailers. A post on blue is announced for the following day.

I find this recipe format very practical. If you want to paint an army, you immediately see which tones go together and don't have to guess how many steps a clean gradient needs.
