FPV Drones

ShramkoGSFPV: A free FPV simulator that runs in your web browser.

Another FPV simulator? Yes, but this one is definitely worth trying. ShramkoGSFPV is the creation of Andrii Shramko, a Polish developer, and it ticks several boxes at once: it's free, it runs directly in the browser (Chrome is preferred), it's open source, and it uses Gaussian Splatting, a 3D modeling technique that allows for the display of complex environments smoothly.

The environments come from SuperSplat (https://superspl.at),), where enthusiasts share their 3D scans – there are over 1,300 available. You can switch between environments using the 'N' key, and you can even upload your own scans. The downside is that these models are sometimes incomplete and often lack walls. If the scene appears too narrow or too vast, simply pause and adjust its size.

In terms of piloting, you're in control of a nano racer similar to those from BetaFPV (several models from the brand are available, although the author states that they have no affiliation with the company). The settings are surprisingly comprehensive: you can connect an EdgeTX radio via USB, choose between modes 1 and 2, configure all the sticks and buttons, fly in Acro or stabilized modes, adjust the camera's field of view and tilt, and configure the drone's physics, PID settings, and rates, all in a style similar to Betaflight. On some scenes (with the permission of their authors), you can even record your flights.

Early feedback is positive: it runs smoothly on a Mac Mini M2 as well as on older PCs. The interface is not yet translated into French, but for a free tool that doesn't require any downloads, it's a great way to practice between real-world sessions.
