The 13 wildest speedruns of AGDQ 2026: Silksong in under an hour and Mario 64 in a relay
Awesome Games Done Quick 2026 ended after seven days of marathon, raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Vida Extra has put together thirteen runs that show why the event keeps surprising every year. Here are the ones that caught my attention most.
Donkey Kong Bananza fell in 1:11:06 by V0oid, using the protagonist's mobility and destroying the stages. Silent Hill f was finished in 1:39:51 on Hard difficulty, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, which many players find takes forever, was completed in 54:55 by Ceen. In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, two runners competed on Expert difficulty without skipping stages, and the time is around 2:04:31.
Then there are challenges with odd conditions. Super Mario World was played with a one-handed controller (11:58), a Resident Evil 2 remake run was done with only the knife and a Rock Band guitar as the controller (55:08), and Majora's Mask was completed blindfolded in 52:20. In Pokémon Emerald, the runner could only use one Pokémon chosen by viewers through donations, with Magikarp, Unown and Shuckle among the picks (3:12:18).
My favorite is the Super Mario 64 relay: around 70 people, each getting one star until Bowser is defeated, some of them blindfolded, in 1:55:53. The article closes by saying all of this mixes records, impossible challenges and humor, and I couldn't agree more.
