Comic-Con 2026 had a Ball Jointed Dolls 101 panel
Ball-jointed dolls got a slot at Comic-Con 2026. On Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:30pm in Room 29CD, a panel titled "Ball Jointed Dolls 101: Creating, Customizing, and Collecting" introduced the hobby to convention-goers.
The description says doll creators, owners and enthusiasts would talk about ball-jointed resin dolls from companies such as Volks, Fairyland, Luts, Iplehouse and Bergemann Dolls. The panel covered the artistic process of creating and customizing these dolls, the basics of BJDs, and tips for maintaining and photographing them. It also touched on the collector community and the range of sizes, from tiny to towering.
The listing does not name any speakers, so I can't say who took part. It was filed under toys and collectibles, fandom and international programming.
I find it encouraging to see BJD appear in a mainstream fan convention programme. For newcomers who only know the dolls from photos online, a beginner-level panel like this is a friendly doorway into the hobby.
